Looking for a French Bistro in Old Naples?

A couple of weeks ago, a friend and I felt like going European for the evening and decided to visit ChezBoet downtown on 12th Avenue South near the City Dock.  What a pleasant experience we enjoyed and my friend has already revisited the restaurant with a friend from Chicago.

We had planned to sit outside to enjoy the pretty patio overlooking 12th Avenue South and Crayton Cove but rain clouds threatened so we decided to chezboetpartake of the indoor atmosphere instead.  The decor is comfortable and intimate with small tables, plush chairs and even a sofa seating area for relaxed groups.  They offer a small plate menu  at the bar and an excellent variety of wonderful wines from Europe and California.  My friend had the Petit Boeuf Bourguigon from the small plate menu and declared it was every bit as good as the ones she enjoyed in France.  I ordered the French Onion Soup off the main menu and it was hot, robust, and delicious!

chezboet2ChezBoet is owned by a very friendly husband and wife team, Lisa and Philippe.  Lisa is an American who married Phillippe in France and they moved to Naples to open their restaurant in 2003.  It is only open during the winter months as they travel to France in the summer to another restaurant they own.  Lisa is in charge of the front of house but also has great input on the cooking, Phillippe is the bartender and keeper of the scotch!  Together they offer a delightfully light and friendly atmosphere for Naples’ diners.

The food and produce is sourced from local farmers and certified organic growers.  Fish is wild caught from the Gulf of Mexico and northern Atlantic.  They have earned their Green Business Certification from the City of Naples.

I am very glad that we ventured to try out our French side and found this wonderful new restaurant for my collection.  Hopefully you will find it as enjoyable as we did!

Remember, it is always toasty in Naples and you deserve your piece of Naples sunshine and the chance to get in touch with your European side!
